1. Information We Collect

TipItSmart does not require you to create an account or submit personal information to use the calculator tools. All tip calculations run entirely in your browser — no calculation inputs or results are ever sent to our servers.

However, certain technical information is collected automatically as part of normal website operation and third-party services:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps — collected by our hosting provider (Vercel) as standard server logs.
  • Analytics data: Aggregate page-view counts, session duration, and device type — collected via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (see section 3).
  • Advertising data: Cookies set by Google AdSense to serve and measure ads (see section 4).

2. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. TipItSmart uses the following types of cookies:

  • Functional cookies: Used to remember your theme preference (light / dark / system). Stored locally in localStorage — not transmitted to any server.
  • Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors interact with the site. These are only activated after your consent is established under Google Consent Mode v2.
  • Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense to deliver relevant advertisements. These include the DoubleClick DART cookie, which allows Google to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
  • Third-party cookies: Our advertising and analytics partners may set their own cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies.

3. Google Tag Manager & Google Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM container ID: GTM-PRGLX6S4) to manage and deploy analytics and marketing tags without modifying site code. GTM itself does not collect personal data; it acts as a container for other tracking scripts.

Through GTM we may load Google Analytics, which collects anonymised usage data such as page views, session duration, device type, and geographic region (country/city level only). This data helps us understand which features are most useful and where the site can be improved. Under Google Consent Mode v2, analytics storage is denied by default until consent is granted — meaning no analytics cookies fire until your consent status is confirmed.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using theGoogle Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

TipItSmart displays advertisements served by Google AdSense(publisher ID: ca-pub-3225632572667703). AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Advertising revenue helps keep TipItSmart free for all users.

You may decline personalised advertising cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Our ads.txt file is publicly accessible at tipitsmart.com/ads.txt and authorises Google to sell advertising on our behalf.
